Michelle Cregg - Consultant Forensic Psychologist

 

Michelle is a HCPC-registered Consultant Psychologist and accredited

Cognitive Analytic Therapy practitioner with extensive experience

working in NHS mental health services.

 

She has worked with people experiencing complex emotional,

relational and psychological difficulties, including trauma, anxiety,

low mood, personality difficulties, psychosis, risk-related concerns and

longstanding patterns that can feel difficult to understand or change. Michelle offers a compassionate, down-to-earth space for people who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, self-critical, disconnected from themselves, or caught in repeated patterns in relationships, work or family life. Areas of expertise  include: Anxiety, low mood, trauma, relational difficulties, self-esteem, identity, emotional overwhelm, personality difficulties, complex mental health presentations, women’s psychological wellbeing, professional burnout and life transitions.

 

Michelle’s approach is warm, thoughtful and collaborative. She is interested in helping people make sense of how past experiences, relationships and coping strategies may shape current difficulties. Her work aims to support clients to develop greater self-understanding, strengthen emotional resilience and find new ways of relating to themselves and others.

 

Michelle has a particular interest in Cognitive Analytic Therapy, a time-limited and relational therapy that helps people identify repeating patterns in their lives and develop more helpful ways forward. She also draws on broader psychological understanding from trauma-informed, attachment-informed and systemic approaches.

 

Alongside individual therapy, Michelle has significant experience in psychological assessment, consultation, supervision and complex case formulation. Her NHS consultant role has involved supporting teams and services to think psychologically about complexity, risk, relational dynamics and recovery.
